19/07/2017 was the most coveted day for the newly appointed leaders, innovators, role models and trail blazers of SFS Academy. The ceremony marked the initiation of the new student council for the year 2017-18. The student council members were carefully selected after a series of tests and peer reviews. On 19th July 2017, the ceremony was graced by the chief guest of the day Major Raghavendra - Administrative officer, 1 Karnataka battalion NCC, who is also the officiating commanding officer of 3 Karnataka battalion NCC. The president of the ceremony was Rev. Fr. Joshy Thazhathukunnel, MSFS- Manager of SFS Academy and the guests of honor included Rev. Fr. Tony A J- Financial administrator SFS Academy, Mrs. Geothi Nair- Academic director and Mrs. Greeshma Geovar- Nursery Coordinator and Rev.Fr Soby Thomas- Principal of SFS Academy. The dignitaries were escorted to the dais by the school band led by band leader Ms. Sahana Reddy, the head boy and head girl, NCC cadets – Ms. Harini and Ms. Vaishnavi and flower girls of SFS Academy.

The program began with the formal ceremony of a prayer song sung by the school choir and lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. The school principal welcomed the guests, students and parents to the function with a wonderful and motivating speech on leadership and team building skills. He also spoke about the functionality of the school and the roles of the student council members. The president of the function was invited on stage to give a short speech on the election of a new student council. Major Raghavendra was deeply impressed by the presentation of the program and did not fail to convey the same through his speech. He indeed is an encouraging role model for all students to follow. During the second half of the ceremony all the newly elected members of the student council were called on stage and they received their sashes and badges from the chief guest, president of the ceremony and financial administrator. The cabinet leaders, house captains, cultural and sport secretaries, NCC senior, band majorette, commander in chief, head boy and head girl, all assembled on stage for the oath taking ceremony where they promised to live by the motto of the school- Knowledge, Love and Service. Head boy and head girl then presented their acceptance speech reaffirming that they would duly fulfill their duties and commitments. The guests of honor were facilitated and thanked for taking their time to be with our school and encourage the potential future leaders of our country.
